At PCIS, we believe in providing the latest and greatest PMS/EMR software to the healthcare market. Thus, we’ve come up with the perfect strategy for accomplishing this—we ask our clients.
Insight 2011 Review
Nine years ago, PCIS introduced the first PCIS Insight Symposium, aptly named because it was intended to be a forum in which clients and employees alike could participate in an open exchange of ideas. The conference has become this and more, bringing clients together from across the country to learn more about the intricacies of the PCIS GOLD® system.
This year’s event was hosted at the Newpark Resort, a beautiful hotel nestled in downtown Park City, on September 19 - 21. Located just east of the Olympic Park, it offered clients quick access to a variety of restaurants, shopping malls, ski resorts, and more.
During the past year, the PCIS GOLD system has grown to include its newly completed electronic medical record (EMR) system. PCIS devoted part of its general session to previewing the EMR and answering questions about its features and functionality. Later, clients had the opportunity to attend open workshops to learn more about various aspects of the EMR.
“We’re excited to offer our clients a fully integrated system to help refine functions in their clinics,” said Kyle Crandall, VP, EMR Development. “We were pleased with the feedback we received, especially in the workshops.”
Besides learning about the EMR, clients had the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the division’s practice management (PM) system. During the past few months, PCIS programmers have enhanced the PM system’s tasking and reporting functions. Because of this, the opening session also featured a “hidden gems” presentation by CEO Dale Sandberg that highlighted several time-saving features embedded in the PM system. In his demonstration, Sandberg showed clients both existing and new ways of streamlining clinical processes.
Following the opening session, clients attended various classes taught by members of the PCIS staff. These classes included information about health record organization, security, macros, SQL reporting, metafiles, and more. Most sessions incorporated formal presentations with question-and-answer sessions, giving clients the opportunity to address specific questions associated with their individual clinics.
“I really think our clients went away with new-found knowledge that will make their jobs easier,” said Crandall.
Besides being informative, the conference was a lot of fun. Participants attended a casual reception that allowed them to network and discuss important topics ranging from information about the PCIS GOLD system to fantasy football and deep-sea fishing. Additionally, they were treated to the customary banquet, which was hosted at an Italian restaurant in the downtown district.
“We really have wonderful clients,” said Crandall. “We look forward to this every year, and we appreciate everyone who makes it possible.”
